About Rachel Knabe
I am an artist living and working in Philadelphia, PA. Originally from Bucks County, I’ve been working in a professional shop environment since 2018. I started tattooing full-time in 2020 after a 2 year apprenticeship.
My style has evolved over the years but one thing remains constant- my love for American traditional tattoos. I strive to preserve the magic of American traditional tattooing and also give back to the craft by adding a feminine and whimsical approach to these well loved motifs. I pull a lot of inspiration from some of the pioneers of modern tattooing, such as Sailor Jerry and Ed Hardy and also from more traditional and folk art sources like old embroidery designs and childrens book illustrations.
I work at Lucky Penny Tattoo in South Philly. I specialize in bold, lively traditional tattoos in both color and black and grey.
